WARMI • Ancestral Feminism in the Altiplano

Editorial Campaign

WARMI investigates the link between ancestral and contemporary feminism, in the Andean Altiplano. Over the past decade in Argentina, the core values of feminism have been increasingly appropriated for political gain, leading to a distorted understanding of gender equality and a divisive discourse on the topic. In contrast, the Indigenous societies of the Altiplano present a different narrative, shaped by a matriarchal system rooted in the worldview that has evolved since the pre-Colombian era.

WARMI explores the rich symbolism of Cosmovision, weaving together the inspiring stories of Indigenous matriarchs, community leaders, educators, LGBTQ+ activists, mothers, and violence survivors — women who, through their personal stories, embody the true essence of feminism beyond any political rhetoric.

GAUCHA • Apple  ShotOnIphone

Corporate Campaign

GAUCHA, the short film written and directed by Marco Vernaschi for Apple’s global campaign #ShotOnIphone, tells the inspiring story of Julia Lamas, a self-empowered gaucho matriarch. Deeply rooted in Argentina’s history, the gaucho culture is mostly perceived as a male-dominated culture. However, this is common misconception as Argentina’s most celebrated community is actually led by women.
